Stitching time is a small series executed in January 2013. It is relief printed on mitsumata and sekishu tsuru, and includes small etching elements built with screen resist aquatint and hard ground. The work also incorporates paper handmade from fibers in western New York State, which I harvested and processed in the summer of 2012. Elements of the work are layered together with a stitched lines, which I consider to be a drawing technique in this context.

The vocabulary of shapes in this series is derived from photographs I made while traveling in Spain and Portugal during the late spring and summer of 2012. The imagery includes reflection of landscape as well as slight architectural reference. Stitching and layering pieces of paper and prints, I convey a sense of visual journalling and combining images that impacted me while moving from place to place. Rather than a literal representation, this work attempts a reflection of the bits of imagery that catch one while recalling an experience of place. All pieces are include relief printing, serigraphy, screen-print resist aquatint, etching, handmade paper and hand-sewing on mitsumata tissue and sekishu tsuru.
